Why Barnsley should sign Callum Wright

Writer: The Daily TykeThe Daily Tyke

The transfer deadline is fast approaching for Barnsley and the reds are in desperate need of adding some attacking quality. Following the drop of income caused by relegation, Barnsley may need to result to loan players and free agents to follow financial constraints.

One player Barnsley could bring in on loan is Callum Wright, Wright is a 22 year old goal scoring midfielder who currently plays for Leicester and will likely be available on loan.

The lack of goals in this Barnsley side is evident and bringing Wright in could provide a further goal threat. Wright predominately plays as an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a Right Wing Back if needed.

Callum had 2 loan spells at Michael Duff’s Cheltenham.

The first loan spell was in January 2021 for the second half of the 20/21 season, Wright played 16 times, scoring 4 goals and assisting twice as Cheltenham won the League Two title.

Detailed information as usual, but, aren't we overloaded in midfield? Surely we need firepower up front and a defensive midfielder to break up play.

Thank you, we’ve certainly got a lot of quantity in midfield but I don’t feel we have that goalscoring quality. Especially if our strikers keep underperforming, we‘ll need to look to other players for goals
